Dayton Audio PHT1-6 Planar Horn Tweeter 6 Ohm
Planar tweeters offer a seductively smooth and richly detailed sound, but most don’t have the ruggedness or reliability for use in pro audio and high level studio monitoring applications. The Dayton Audio PHT1-6 Planar Horn Tweeter is different. It features a horn loaded design that achieves the high sensitivity of many horn loaded compression drivers, and its thermally robust Kapton diaphragm with etched aluminum conductor is rugged enough to handle the high power levels common in pro audio.
Cooling is often a problem in planar drivers, but the PHT1-6 features a large, rear-mounted aluminum heatsink that is thermally coupled to the membrane’s conductor and also evacuates heat from the transducer’s rear chamber, for extended component life and the ability to withstand peaks of 160 watts (80 watts RMS) when used with a 2nd order 2,500 Hz (minimum) crossover. The 6-ohm impedance helps the PHT1-6 maintain a high sensitivity, for use with virtually any pro audio or high efficiency midbass driver.
